Rainbow Boa Scientific Name: Epicrates cenchria Subfamily: Boinae Length: 2.5meters (8.3ft)
Description Two varieties are known, one of which is plain tan in color with a lighter underside, the other is marked with dark rings, which are lighter in the center. However, all show a beautiful bloom, particularly when freshly sloughed and the various rainbow colors show themselves under certain light conditions. The body is fairly slender, more so in the males than in the females. Range Northern South America. Habitat and Habits Mainly found in wooded areas where it is an excellent climber. This species has a reliably stable temperament and is a popular subject for the terrarium. This is mainly nocturnal. Diet Mammals and Birds Sex Differences Males have bigger spurs than the females Breeding Less than 20 offspring are likely. |
